Solved 'User profile cannot be loaded' error

Hi all,

I'm trying to fix an issue with a friends laptop, and wondered if anyone on here might be able to help.

The issue seems to be fairly common; upon entering the password on bootup, I receive the error 'The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded', and then have no option but to logout.

I've managed to find some solutions online, but they don't seem to be possible for my situation. I don't have a Vista recovery disk or the original installation disk available, so can't fix it this way. While I can boot it up in safe mode, no system restore points have been saved, so I can't restore it either.

In addition, there is no administration profile I can access; only the one user profile that has the issue.

Does anyone know of another way this issue could be fixed? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
