User account name help

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me about user accounts. I wanted to know if when you rename an account is it possible to rename the user file.

An example is an account called "a" to an account called "b"
I rename it to "b"
the user file is still c:\windows\users\a
How would I go about changing the file name?

Thanks for your time, Lee

Hello pjjppj, welcome to Vista forums!

The short answer is if you were to change some of these file names
the OS may not be able to find them when it looks for them.
(over simplified of course)

Later  Ted

pjjppj, You'd have to create a new user account 'b', and then copy the stuff you wanted from \a to \b, and then it would accomplish what you want.

You cannot just go an have the folder renamed when you rename the account - that would break settings for almost all 3rd party applications that were installed, because they would still be looking for \a.
