USB TV-tuner Emtec S801

I recently bought a USB TV-tuner for digital broadcats (DVB-T) named "Emtec S801". Installing the produvt on my laptop with Vista Home Premium x86 works fine, installing it on my workstation with Vista Home Premium x64 does not!

According to both the box, the installation instructions inside the box and the published information on the website www.emtec-international.com this product is compatible with Windows Vista (not specifying x86 or x64). However, when I try to install the drivers shipped with my TV-tuner (or downloaded drivers from the website) they fail to install and I get an error message explaining I need the 64-bit version of the software. No such software is available on the website.

Emtec support has so far failed to answer my mails. Does anyone here have any information that could possibly help me out?

Thanx in advance!

Nothing you can do other than e-mailing the company that makes the product and ask them if they have the 64 bit drivers

I feared that would be the only solution as they won't reply to my mails...

Though, I was still hoping there would be a way of forcing 32-bit drivers to work in a 64-bit environment. Does anyone have tips of how to do this?

Re: USB TV-tuner Emtec S801 - Solved!

Had the same problem, and after some deep diving I discovered that the S801 is actually the same hardware (made by Yuan Tech) of the 15C16 - 15C29 (KHLBX) laptop sold by the BTO folks (BTO Notebooks)

I picked up the 64b driver for Windows 7 available at their support site and it works like a charm for me.

It's bookmarked here, for convenience

Hope it helps,
