USB driver problem - kind of

Hi peeps, I have two problems that i hope you can help me with.

The first problem:- Everytime i switch my pc on my usb's dont work. They had been working fine for several weeks but they went wrong.
When i go into device manager the properties for them say "This device cannot start (code 10). Windows did not start a related device driver. To learn more, click the driver tab and then click driver details."
The driver tab shows that drivers are installed and does not show any problem.
All i need to do to make them work again is to uninstall them (no need to delete drivers) and let the system find and install them again.
They then work perfect until the next time i start the pc.

The second problem is putting the pc to sleep. It goes to sleep fine but a couple of seconds after starts up again on its own.

Any idea's anybody ? This is doing my head in.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Thanks for that. It was the usb mouse that was causing the pc to wake up immediatly.
I still have the usb driver problem though. Any idea's about that one ?

For me, it turned out to be the AT&T Communication Manager software for my aircard. After reverting to a restore point just before installing that, everything was fine. I don't know if that helps or not.......

which was your problem - the usb's not working or the waking up from sleep automatically ?
I have already sorted the latter but the first is an extremely annoying problem

I had the same USB problem you did ('related driver failed to start...') - on almost all of the "Intel ICH8 USB Host Controller" devices. Turns out AT&T CM was messing it up somehow. Without that on there, laptop runs fine.
