USB Broadband and WIFI simultaneously

Hi

I have a Vista laptop which connects via wifi to my home network router and I can access all the PCs and Printers and internet no problem.

I now have to do some work away from home and will purchase a USB Broadband modem which will give me mobile internet/email, but I will still want to move files and print when at home.

My question is:

If I have my USB Modem and my Wifi enabled at the same time, can I access the Internet via the USB Modem, while accessing the PCs and Printers at home?

How would my laptop know to access the Internet via the dongle modem and not through the router and modem on the home network?

Any ideas would be big help

Cheers

u must remove the internet input cable on the modem which makes it just a LAN connection.. on your computer create or configure that connection as local.. and create another connection for your USB modem for the internet.. thus you will have a local connection and an internet connection.. you will able to see your printer..

Hi

Not possible to unplug the ADSL cable as ASHWIN suggests as the house LAN would not be connected to Internet (unhappy wife!!!)

I have read the other reply and suggestions and must admit to being totally confused  by all the submask/subnets/IP/etc etc stuff.

It might be simpler for me to press the wifi off switch on my laptop and plug in the USB Broadband dongle when I want to use the dongle.
AND
Stop the USB dongle and press the wifi on switch when I want to see the home network.

Thanks

you normally can;t have two internet connection going at the same time.. or the other option is to connect your laptop through network wire to a switch.. you will need a switch rather than a router..
