I'm trying to connect my laptop to my TV to run Freeview TV. In terms of hardware I'm buying a connector for the 7 pin socket from the laptop to a 4 pin TV connection plus audio connectors. None of the other methods of connection are as easy since I don't have matching plugs on the laptop and TV.
From what I've read, the easiest way to proceed is to use Windows Media Centre as the software plus perhaps slot in cards.
My laptop is a Dell Vostro 1500 with a Vista Business OS. This doesn't have Windows Media Centre. I'm seeking to get advice on if I can upgrade to a version of Windows with WMC and if so what the cost might be. Neither the DELL or Windows Support sites are of any use since I can't presently speak to either by telephone (out of hours) and neither will accept emails because 'Wrong Country' which I don't understand. My product key is correct so the glitch is incomprehensible.
Can anyone advise on how I might upgrade and to what, also what the cost might be.
Thanks.
Steve
