unwanted(objectionable) Emails

Hi
over the last few months I have been getting unwanted Emails. all of them objectionable,a lot of them bordering on the pornographic. I can receive five or more each day.

I send each one to the blacklist but more come from obscure domains and addresses.
Examples are:-
@noder99-254.adbtech.it
@emeraldmaterials.com

Does anyone else suffer this indignity and can you suggest how to stop it happening?

Thanks

I use filtering at my ISP. There I can block a domain and email addresses. Filtering is the only way to combat them that I know of.

I have even gotten spam emails with one of my email addresses as the reply to, so they forge the email addresses.

Hi
I do use filtering but every Email comes from a different address and a different domain name. How do I stop this, and, why is it happening anyway?

It happens because there are spammers who enjoy sending them. They bounce them off open relay email servers. Email software then tries to find a 'best match' for the email address in the To: line. Sooner or later, and email server grabs it, and tries to deliver the email to a recipient. Many of these open relay email servers are in China and North Korea.

I know that if you put your email address on a web site, or any publically viewable area, you will get them. The spammers have bots who parse web pages for email addresses, then they save them to a list, then they spam those emails addresses.

You may have to change your email address. One time I was subjected to what is called a 'joe job'. I got thousands of them an hour over a period of 2 weeks. Had to change my web site and email address.

There are programs, don't kow the names off-hand, that let you log into the email server under your username and password, filter by subject line, then download the rest.

JimJoe mentioned the one I was going to recommend, I use Mailwasher Pro the paid version.
It is a very good program because you can see what is on the server before it even hits your inbox.
It has very good filters already and will mark many as blacklisted with the tick in the box to delete them when you hit the process button, you can also set up your own filters depending on the email that you receive.
I used to use the free version but that only allowed one email account to be monitored and as I had more than that I paid for the Pro version which gives you the option to monitor several accounts, it is a one off payment and you get lifetime upgrades, well you did when I purchased it which was a few years ago now ;)
