unsure of where to place this but its suspicious

not sure if you'd consider haywire a crash but....

i wondered, all of my windows system components like svchost run32dll explorer weexplorer.exe; etc. are trying to access the internet via explorer.exe (according to comodo IS). Is that normal? To be its suspicious that if i'm not telling the os go to the internet, or referencing something it should access the internet for, it shouldn't.

then this was simultaneous to updating, but my thought is that wu should have downloaded necessary hot fixes and configuaration files in order that these components don't need to access the net. what a waste of bandwidth.

i also wanted to change the default location for wu download files to a known location so that i could save them, and not have to access the net everytime i want to swap out os or what have you.

so i looked in win/sys/softwaredist/downloads and its not as i recall updates in a kb1234.exe format or hotfixkb1234.exe. all of the files are strewn about carelessly and seemingly encrypted with aes with names like 0f7hib430913 or some such (i can provide screen shots if you like but didn't think it too pertinent). as such, saving the material would be useless, I have no idea how to execute a .cab and a bunch of oddly named files to perform an update. .exe seemed much simpler.
changing default location was supposed to be administered via gpedit.msc as well, and i wanted to double check that my not being able to execute this is because i have home premium..like ipsec this is only available on more complete versions of vista/seven/or xp?

another oddity is that windows is installing files to my ext drive without being told to, or saving files there. dll's, configuration for visual studio and one or more of the updates performed. so I keep having to pick up the files and place them in a folder.

this happened with the previous install and the fresh one made w/o network connection over the twilight hours.

I'm wondering if it isn't comodois that is causing the trouble because everytime it says program a is accessing the internet via program b or accessing program b allow/deny, on decision its giving me a uac prompt! Everytime and having just installed it with zero configuration, we're talking about a migraine from hell (flash/dim/flash/dim).

what's good in the hood? this has me confused as words not spoken on public forums.

thanks.

My Computer

another thing has arisen, or at least now I can think to myself strange about it...

usually i dual boot any of three versions of linux/unix and windows. but i completely reformatted the drive last night with the hp recovery disks.

where it didn't seem suspicious persay in a dual boot environment, linux/unix and so grub being absent this installation entirely, I'm wondering....

any reason why a grub prompt should randomly appear versus windows nt loader pushing windows through?

...stupid network....

My Computer

here are some screen shots. again the install is fresh, not more than 6 hours old.
