Ok my pc came with Microsoft Works and this trial of Office. I uninstalled both of them using the uninstall function in control panel. But i still have a folder for each Microsoft Works folder under C:/ProgramFiles is 350mbs and the Office one is around 50mbs. Is this normal? Why werent these files removed?
Thanks

Not always are all files and folders removed after un installation with many programs
there can be many reasons why... a few example can be bad programming, intentional for later reinitialisation and backups of pre installed software
I feel in your case its for the last two and it wont only be in you program files directory
If your entirely sure you don't want these programs again then you can safely delete the remaining folders and if that is the case then you may want to show hidden files and folders and look for the rest of the files left behind that can me deleted that are usually in locations such as C:\ProgramData C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming

Well, to be honest, it is going to be a PITA - however, if you uninstalled them through Programs and Features then you should be able to delete the folders as well - however, in order to delete anything from Program Files you'll need administrative privileges, and then be asked to allow explorer to gain even higher privileges.

If your HD is even just a small 100 GB, then space used on there is a whole 0.4% of your drive space. Unless you are truly hurting for space, you may as well leave it alone, and make sure you reboot to see if it goes away after the reboot *before* you attempt to delete the folders manually.

Always, always, *always* reboot after uninstalling a program before deleting the remaining crud.
