anytime i try and download something online the download stays at 0%, it does not even give me an estimated time left to download or anything. sometimes i get this message pop up:

"Internet Exploerer was not able to open this Internet site. The request site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

i thought it might be one of my add ons likes sbybot search and destroy, ad-aware, spyware blaster, or AVG 8.5, i deleted them all and it still doesnt let me download

already tried 1. running with no addons 2. Internet options>Security Tab> CUstom level> and checking that under Downloads was enabled. 3. tried system restore and it still will not allow me to download anything

anyone have any suggestions?

Could it be a firewall issue, you think?

If you right click the "Post Reply" button on this page and try downloading it with "Save picture as..." does it work?

OK. Then try this. Go to Process Explorer and download Process Explorer by the link up right. Right click on it an choose "Save target as..." (not sure this program works on X64 but just as a download test).

OK, something else came up. Very sorry, I will have to leave my computer for a while. Hopefully someone else will come along and assist you in the mean time. Otherwise I will do some research and come back later. I had this problem with an older OS some years ago, just cannot remember what the problem was right now.

Fo now, I suggets to go into control panel and to firewall and check if there is a yellow warning that the firewall is not using the recommended settings. If there is, click the "update setting link".

So, how are you connected to the internet. Wireless, cable, some kind of modem?

Have you asked your ISP if there are any settings you may need to change?

Has downloading worked before with Vista, and had you done something in particular when this problem started?

Can you post a picture of what you see in the Network and Sharing Center? In there, to the left, you can press Diagnose and Repair. You may want to try that.

Sorry, been gone some days. If you still have this problem I suggest to start by testing if the firewall is causing your problem. First make sure all accounts on your computer are password protected and not using the account name or derivate of it as password. Then open the Process Explorer download page mentioned above. Next turn firewall off. Try to download Process Explorer. Turn firewall on again. Report the result back.

Edit: Before doing this, empty your browser cash:
Tools - Internet options - General tab - Delete: Delete files and history.

uninstalled the antivirus from the computer if your antivirus is not paid version.

check the firewall settings and update the firewall. might be download will be blocked by the firewall.

reset the internet explorer so that all the settings will be default level .

your isp provider can also block the downloading from the internet.
