Unable to access anything!

Noob here, so be gentle.

I've just bought a Vista computer from work.

I transferred my files over and the PC asked me to install updates which I did.

After they installed, I got this:

Does anyone know what I should do? I can;t access the CD/DVD drive or my external harddrive.

Hi,

First you need to update the drivers for the items shown for the Acer website. The ones to select are dependant on your specific model.

So, what is the model of your new PC?

Start by looking here: -

Careful as this is a work computer.

You need to ensure youre connected to your network now, as you might have got set to a public network.

Go to here: Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center and look if its private or public now. It should be private.

Public locks your computer to all shared drives like that.

What software did you use to "Transfer your files over"?

We need more information of the specific make, model & opperating sytm installed of the PC you bought. This will enable us to establish the best way forward.

Did you get any disks with the PC when you bought it?

I used a basic data transfer cable.

Acer - AcerpowerFH

Processor - Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz

32-bit OS

running Windows Vista Business

No discs. It was 'reconditioned' by my work's IT consultants but they won;t offer any support on them

Not knowing a great deal about GP restrictions etc.

Could you please advise if the instalation you was given was a business profile variant or a standard instalation of the operating system? You will need to ask the IT tech department for this info! OK?

Just one more thing. You seemed to be trying to run a System Restore at one point. Could you please give us the error code and number of the error you got, as it could affect the whole system. A problem with System Restore could indicate a problem with CBS or WinSxS or something, and we could fix that at the same time.
