Un-installed its own speakers?

Im not sure if I should put this under update probelms or what, but Im highly confused.:huh:

I downloaded the Malicious Software Removal Tool, thru Windows Update. (Not a pop up online)

After it was done with the update, it restarted my computer, and when it was done, I discovered that it had UN INTSALLED the speakers.

The new software hadnt even run yet, so I doubt it had anything to do with that.

When I click on the volume icon on my task bar, it says that there is "No Audio Output Device Installed"

WHAT IS GOING ON

All I have on this laptop (Toshiba, year old) for speakers are the ones BUILT into it. I was unaware a computer could delete its own speaker device....


Does anyone have idea WHAT the heck is going on?

Go into your device manager and see if there are any errors for anything.

Im not sure if this is the right one I want but this is what it says

I would download and install the drivers that I have linked for you and restart your computer after installing and see if you get any sound and see if your device shows in the sound manager.

Didnt do a darned thing. Installed everything, restarted, and when I go to the sound mixer thing, still says there are no devices installed, and no option to search for any

Ok go into the device manger where you posted the screenshot and double click on Realtek High Def and try rolling back the drivers for it and if that doesn't work uninstall the device and install the drivers again and restart.

there is no option to roll back

but ill try un installing etc

I find it weird it says the device is working fine, but its not at all

Your welcome now make sure you don't download the Windows update one again just right click on it and choose hide update.

Yea ive been putting off and putting of downloading the updates, cause theyre so time consumong, but my computer has been very very sluggish and not functioning properly, so I gave in and downloaded them in hopes it would help (of course not)

So no more updates!! lol
