Ultimate x64 Sleep Mode Troubles

I'm running Ultimate x64 with:

Intel Core 2 Quad
EVGA GEForce GTX 280
4 Gigs of RAM
GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
(2, running in RAID)

Whenever the computer goes into sleep mode and i try to wake it up, the fans run for about five seconds then shut off, the computer stays silent for about 10, then the fans run again. This keeps on happening until I have to turn off the power on the surge protector, wait a little bit, then boot it up. The computer then asks me to run it in safe mode and such, and i'm worried about hurting my set up becuase it's brand new.

Is there anything I can do to make it wake up smoothly?

Hello CyborgCat, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Using Option Two in this tutorial below, double check to see if your sleep settings are like the recommended ones. You should also check your sleep state settings in the BIOS (Step Three) to see if it set to S3.

Also, check to make sure that you have the latest BIOS and chipset driver versions installed for your motherboard.

BIOS:
GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-X48-DS4 (rev. 1.3)

Chipset Drivers:
GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - Driver - GA-X48-DS4 (rev. 1.3)

Hope this helps,
Shawn
