no matter how many times I untick the uac in users, every time I reboot my computer it as "reinstated" itself and if I wish to run certain programmes, like DragonDictate, I cannot run them in "elevated mode" and therefore I have to once again untick the uac and restart the computer. Everyone else seems to have no problem with this. From what I can understand it works "permanently" for most users. I thought that installing the service Pack 1 would rectify this problem for me. However, that is not to be
is there any way at all to permanently remove UAC?

It is driving me crazy

I don't blame you. I searched on you problem and found nothing. Are you running as Administrator? If not, then try doing so, and see if you can keep the sucker from "ticking" you off.

thank you for your response. I am running as administrator and I'm the only one using the computer anyhow. Maybe, one-day soon it will rectify itself :-)

Your are very welcome. There are a few things you can try: repairing startup and using a registry cleaner (e.g., CCleaner). Be sure and backup your registry or make a restore point right before you use the cleaner. 99% of all registry cleanings go fine, but I would have my data backed up too. If these steps fail, then you could do a repair install of Vista if you have one of the needed types of Vista DVD. There is a great repair install tutorial on this site. Check it out if you have to go this far. No guarantees, of course. Best.

It's just more of a security risk running in the built-in Administrator account since everything installed on the computer that is opened or is running will have full access to the computer like the account, but it should be ok to use only when you need to for the program. Having a good antivirus program and a anti-adware/spyware program can help to be safer while using this account.

hi, try this uac will disable it is my gurantee, press start select run, type msconfig, select tools, click disable uac, click lanch programme. n ok.
