A Gateway multimedia PC that I'm configuring for my church with multiple monitors (G-Force 6200 one PCI, one PCIe - 2 monitor outputs each) has the Gateway "ViXS PureTV-U 4899 (NTSC/ATSC Combo)" card. No software came with the card, other than Windows Media Center. I can make WMC tune analog cable channels through the card OK.
However, I find WMC to be all controlling, and specifically unfriendly to my multiple monitor situation. For example, it captures an entire screen, I can't control which screen it captures, I can't reduce the window to a part of a screen, and WMC captures the mouse so that I can't do other things in the other screens. It is also quite slow to navigate to the places where I want to be.
I'd like to find (and might even pay for) software bits that would allow me to tune a cable station and either directly play it on a particular monitor (football games often happen immediately after church), or capture it, edit it, and replay it later as part of a service. WMC has all those capabilities, and it might be OK if I could access the pieces rather than the entire bundle.
I am familiar with and favorable about some of the NCH software NCH Software. Download programs for your computer. Their Debut product seems to recognize my video card, but doesn't provide for TV Tuning.
What other TV Tuner software are folks fond of?
