TV Tuner help

Hi guys,

I know this has been beaten to death by now but I'm completely and utterly confused on the tv tuner situation. Hopefully someone can clarify this for me.

I have vista ultimate x64 with 8 GB of ram. I would like an hdtv tuner with dvr capabilities, but everytime i think one is reasonable there is always an issue with it; most notably having more than 4 GB of ram. Right now I have comcast cable, but it won't be too long before the digital conversion, so how would that affect an hdtv tuner?

So does anyone have any experience with an hdtv tuner that works with digital and analog, can record video, work with more than 4 GB of ram, and of course works well?

Also, a dual tuner would be awesome so that i could record a show and watch another channel at the same time.

Thanks for any help.

I have Comcast Cable in Houston. I use the HD-DVR within the box they supplied me. It does all you have mentioned above. On the system I am on, I don't think I can use a tuner. The cable is set up like satellite services where the tuner un-encryts the signals. I believe Comcast send a signal to the box, to tell it what it is allowed to un-encryt. You could run video from your cable box to your computer and use it as a DVR. I think the HDTV tuner would only be good for off the air signals.

I would not be too concerned on what effect the digial converstion will have on your HDTV tuner since that is the new format. The only thing an anolog tuner would be good for would be something that would output RF through a cable like a cable box, VCR or DVD. All through the air anolog signals will cease after feb 09. If you have a HDTV or monitor you would not be using that format anyway.
