Turn Vista into Windows 7 for free

"Every time Microsoft delivers a new OS it's possible to get many of the features of a Windows upgrade in the previous version of Windows. Windows 7 is no exception. Here's a roundup of a few things you can do to make Windows Vista as Windows 7-like as possible, without shelling out for the new OS.

We'll start out with a couple tweaks, then tell you about four free apps you can download. And a tip of the hat to the amazing Gina Trapani at Lifehacker, from whom I picked up several of these tricks..................

after following the links to the M$ website you are given 3 files to download, the only actual 1 you need it Platform Update for Windows Vista_Beta.cmd.remove
once you have that file you simply rename it to Platform Update for Windows Vista_Beta.cmd right click and run as admin, a dos box will them appear and all you need to do is press enter/return, after this is done you now have to use windows update and check for updates, a new update will show, once downloaded and installed you will be asked to restart your pc for parts 2 & 3 to complete, once a full restart has completed then your done
