Total Vista Security

Mt daughter's comp running Vista Ult. 64 got infected w/ this crap. About 2 years ago I managed to rid the same computer infected w/ Paladin. This one seems a little bit meaner and I'm having some problems removing. If it helps I have the log file from HiJackThis. Let me know and I'll post the log.

I finally managed to get Malwarebytes to scan. Every time I would start it TVS would take over w/ it's pop ups on the desktop.
Odd thing though, Malwarebytes ran a full scan just previous to this infection and came up w/ nothing.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.

I've had Malwarebytes for a couple of years on this comp. After much finagling I finally managed to get it to run. It wouldn't run from the desktop icon but did as "Run as Admin".
It did clean it out but in the Security Center I still have Paladin is out of date and needs to be updated and Windows Defender simply can't start it gets error codes.
What I've decided to do at this point is run an upgrade to 7 Ult. and go through her old files and remove her pics & music files. These are also back up in my Home Server comp.
As an end note > I'm going to get the Malwarebytes full edition and she's been instructed never to install anything w/o my knowledge. She's almost 15 years old and she doesn't like going w/o her computer more than 30 minutes.

You can use UAC to stop standard account users installing or altering any programs and settings.
