Too small hard drive partition

I have been trying to partition my hard drive, but it will only let me create a partition of 57MB. I have 165GB free why is this?

The 165 appears to be on your C drive. It is my guess that you are using C when trying to change the partition. You cannot change the partition that is in use.
In addition, you may want to try
Free Partition Magic alternative. Free Partition Manager Software for Windows 7/VISTA/XP/2000 and Windows Server 2003/2008/2000.
It is excellent software to partition your Hard Drive.

Thanks that program really helped, but I have hit another problem.

I have installed Linux an a partition of my hard drive but it isn't registering as a boot drive why is this and how do I change that.
