to ddr3 or not

ok i've been browsing around the net looking for my next upgrade component and ddr3 ram has been knawing at me, i want to get it but am looking for some feedback from others who have it or have used it to let me know if it is worth it i am looking at getting
OCZ 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel Kit Memory
my motherboard supports this so i guess it's just a case of getting warm and fuzzy feedback from people who might recommend it before i shell out 150 quid for it, as i could get the ddr2 1066 ram instead if the warm and fuzzy feeling isn't there.

You will only see the difference when running benchmarks, just save your money for your next big upgrade.

I don't know a lot about DDR3... or any type of ram to be honest but i did hear or read somewhere that the clock speeds are slower on DDR3 compared to a good set of DDR2

Personally i would wait some time for DDR3 to mature before i consider upgrading

so would you say i would better off getting the 1066 ddr2 ram then as i am looking at changing to the 4870 1gb gpu at the same time? i just don't want any bottle neck in the system.

i just relooked at prices and i could get 8gb ddr2 1066 ram for 140 quid so i think i'll do that

I would say that that would be a good combination.... but i recommend you look at the cache latencies of the ram as they play the most important factor in all ram... bottle necks ect


for example 4-4-4-12 the las no. no.12 means latencie and the lower this no. the better especaly for gaming... i cant remember what the other no.'s mean but i know they also play an important part in performance
