After always answering questions about "is it a virus?", it gets tiring trying to explain things like this to people.

Something along the lines of this article should be REQUIRED READING when buying a computer. That's exactly the problem with most of it......people just don't know what they're dealing with until it's too late.

My dis used to be notorious for installing toolbars, tweaks, intrusive programs and stuff just because it seemed cool at the time. I got sick of cleaning it up all the time, so I just left it alone for quite a while.
Once he started having problems with the PC( my old one,btw), I showed him exactly why, and he's got a good grip on what and what not to use now.

I still think browsing habits are just as important as any AV. I haven't been infected in years. Not because of some great AV (I use free ones:MSE now), but my browsing habits changed at one point, and it made one hell of a difference.
