tempermental internet connection

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone can help me - my internet connection is always faulty when I turn my laptop on. Usually it's just the the two computer icons blinking blue, sometimes it has the warning sign in front of it. In order to get my internet functioning properly, I "diagnose and repair" and usually have to get new IP settings. Sometimes this happens later, during internet use. Is there any way to stop this happening, to make sure the internet connects itself straight away without IP changes? I'm not particularly computer-literate, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks :)

Hi and welcome to the forums .

I would recommend:

Making sure your WLAN driver is up to date .

Depending on how old your laptop is this can be a common issue due to out of date drivers, hardware failures/problems etc. and can be very difficult to find a permanent solution for, the work around you are using is the easiest fix.

I have 2 laptops like this in my house, one of which I decided to just stick a PCI WLAN card in the side which is near 100% reliable.

The only other thing I could suggest is to disable your WLAN card before you shut down your PC and then re-enable it on startup up.
