Teamviewer, Viruses on Vista Os?

Well, I just want to point something out, I'm guessing you know what teamviewer is, if not you view others computers and can help with stuff etc, you still have control like move mouse and stuff.. Well one day I teamviewed, and I got a virus from him or something and it locked my C:/ drive as in couldn't move anything to it or access it. So I guess he just sent me a virus or do you think its a vista problem.. Anyway I resolved it by having to do a Restore << (Did not work) Had to do a (Factory full restore) Lost about everything, luckily Lenovo computers come with a help center on startup to fix your computer ... but worst thing was I lost all my information/Software.
