Taskbar Color Problem

After re-formatting my HDD some months ago, I lost the black bar Taskbar color
and I can't for the life of me find a way to get the Vista black one back.
It's a Gateway laptop, mod. M-6750, OS Vista Home Premium 32bit, all the bells and whistles. All works fine except the gray, ugly Taskbar has bothered me ever since I re-installed Windows from the OEM disk provided last Oct.
I don't see that many others have this problem and those that mention it on the
Web do not seem to include any fix.
Anyone care to provide a procedure to fix this problem?

Perhaps Aero is not enabled. Also, go to personalize and change the color there.

This will bring back your taskbar color. Just select graphite.
