Task Scheduler.

G,Day, i have a problem with Task Scheduler, i need it to work for my auto back ups, but i cannot turn it from manual to auto in the services panel as the box is greyed out, i can start it manually but if i turn my laptop of i have to restart it again manually. Also Windows loses all the backup settings and i have to do everything again. Everything is ok as long as i don't have to restart my laptop. i have checked all the uac settings i know all the other services that depend on it everything seems ok. No other services have there box for changing from manual, auto, or disable greyed out, hope someone can shed some light on the problem. Thanks Jim.

Hello vbn940ss,

When you are in that window click on the dependencies tab. You will see that Remote pocedure call (RPC) and Windows Event Log are dependencies. I cannot change the RPC, but I can change the Windows Event Log in services. Make sure that is set to automatic. If not set it to automatic and reboot, see if that works.

Mine are still set to auto since install, but if one service is stopped for whatever reason it stops all the services that depend on it also.

I'm sort of guessing here so I hope it works for you.

Strange:
Two methods:

1.Run cmd.exe as a administrator (right click on this file as administrator) and type

SC CONFIG SCHEDULE START= AUTO

2.Navigate to key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule
and set phrase Start to 2

Thank you Flavius, in cmd the command did not exist but in the registry it worked, the box is still greyed out but, now it says automatic which is great. thankyou again Jim.

You are wrong.This command exist and work perfect in Vista only you've somothing wrong done
