System Service BSOD

I hope someone can help:

I have had a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit Service Pack 1 for months now, and have had no issues. I was on campus earlier, and there were no errors with my laptop. When I came home this afternoon, I turn it on, with no problems. I get to the login screen, no problems. I login and it gets to the desktop. After about 20 - 30 seconds, it gives me the same error time and time again, A BSOD System_Service_Exception at 0x0000003B; 00000000C0000005; 0000000000000000; FFFFFA60008602EE0.

I can login successfully using safe mode, and from there I disabled all non-essential startup programs, and still get this same error. The only thing I changed today, other then take notes for class, was to update virus-definitions. In Safe Mode, I also ran a full system virus scan, which detected nothing. I can't seem to find anything giving a clue as to what has happened, since this happened out of the blue, without any problems or indications, and no issues for months.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank You.

Ah, I should have mentioned, I am using a separate computer right now, and can not access what is needed for more detailed info from the Minidump folder on my laptop, the usb ports are not working in Safe Mode. I would have done so if I could access it, but it will not allow me to get there.

If you can boot in safe mode you can go to the minidump folder. drag it to the desktop and zip it. if USB dont work burn it to a cd

Alright, so I got the usb ports working again. There are 12 separate dmp files in the zip, all are from today, and have the save BSOD error. My laptop has had no issues, or errors since I got it back in August, and even earlier today I had no problems or issues. I took notes, and updated virus definitions. I can get to the login on screen, no problem, and even login, however everytime, I get about 20 - 30 seconds in, and it gives me the BSOD. I have tried a system repair, and recovery, to no avail. I stopped all non-essential programs from startup. Any other information that I need to post, or that would be helpful, please let me know.

Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory

Since there could be many causes we should attack them all.

I would

download memtestx86 and run for 5 passes
run a system file check
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

if you are overclocking STOP

I managed to fix it. Turns out, it was the virus definitions. Apparently Norton liveupdate downloaded invalid virus definitions, and it was screwing with a bunch of things on startup. Had to manually get rid of the bad definitions. But its running fine now, thank you for your time, and sorry to have bothered you all.
