In the "task scheduler" the default setting is for "12:00am each day" and the second "trigger" is "upon comuter startup".These are in place and marked as "enabled" yet a "system restore point"is not automatically being created. The event log reads as follows:
Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-TaskScheduler/Operational
Source: Microsoft-Windows-TaskScheduler
Date: 3/19/2009 5:39:56 AM
Event ID: 114
Task Category: Missed task started
Level: Warning
Keywords:
User: SYSTEM
Computer: Ken-PC
Description:
Task Scheduler could not launch task "\Microsoft\Windows\SystemRestore\SR" as scheduled. Instance "{a1868f64-ed08-49a9-9f86-f62ed855affd}" is started now as required by the configuration option to start the task when available

What you do is open system restore and click on "Open System Protection"

and when you look at System properties it will tell most recent restore point, date and time

Hope this helps

ACDC ...thanks for your prompt reply. When I checked it shows as "3/19/09 install:windows update" and the one prior to that is "3/16/09 again install:windows update".I have been able to come to one conclusion regarding the task\history\warning....that the failure to launch is referring to the default setting of 12:00am at which time my pc is always shutdown. However immediately following this history entry is the following:
Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-TaskScheduler/Operational

I suggest you change the time to something more appropriate instead of 12:00AM...
Do you know how to do this?
