System Mechanic

Has anyone heard from IOLO about a 64bit vista version (beta or otherwise) of system mech? I like the "all in one" job it does. And although i don't allow it to run in the backgroud I ran it about every 2 weeks in XP. It kept the registry clean and did a nice defrag job. I am not very good with registries so I like to use software that I feel confident with. I also like the tweaking features, they are understandable. This isn't a commercial for them, but does anyone know of a substitute for SM that will do a similar job? Thanks
Dwight

Yes there's no doubt PC Tools Software's marketing lured you in.

They definitely know how to market there products, but I stopped using Registry Mechanic and Spyware Doctor a couple of years ago. Yes they look nice and pretty, but in my humble opinion I don't believe they are very effective.

May I suggest with regard to Registry Cleaners you consider on two on a Vista x64 system ... CleanMyPC Software's Registry Cleaner or Wise Registry Cleaner 3.

My apologies, I misread your post and got System Mechanic mixed up with Registry Mechanic.

I have not had any experience with Iolo Technologies products.

Re: Registry Mechanic 7

Hi, everyone!
I installed Registry Mechanic 7 on my HP Notebook (running Vista Home Premium x64 on it) and got freezed at deep scanning. It is not designed for x64 version, but for Vista x32 works fine I think. It runs excelent on Windows XP.
After uninstalling RM7, I decided to run Win Utilities 6.1, so I did, worked fine on the computer, but a little bit more aggresive (comparing to RM7).
It is a lot of software of this kind on the market but not each of it is compatible to work perfectly (i.e run ace utilities around 3 years ago on XP x32, I got problems after every reboot of the computer, something with Kernel Dll was missing).
