The minidumps are from Feb and Mar of 2009 - do you have any more recent ones?

If not, then please post the information requested in this post: http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-debugging/282419-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Although you're not currently having BSOD's, the reports will help us get started.

The older memory dumps don't blame anything in particular - but I did notice that your Norton program was outdated. Try removing it if you're still having problems.

Thanks John for replying- I am sure there are a million things that could go wrong and alot of people would not even be interested in trying to help so.. Thank-you very much. I don't have alot of "technical word savy" so I probably cant tell you with all the correct lingo what all happened. I decided to rework everything- was able to get the computer to stay on long enough to open in safe mode and backup any data I didn't already have backed-up, then I shut everything down, opened up the case cleaned it out w/air made sure everything looked tight and in the right places, reset all the cords and restarted it pulled any patch I could think of off the internet which pertained to any software I had installed updated everything in my computer manually and right now my fingers are crossed it has not froze in an half hour- I have not ruled out the wd 2tb drive being the issue - so as i add in my drives if i lock up after adding that drive i will assume that may be the issue. If more happens - I will def try to contact you for help as I have been at my wits end for the last 4 days - def need some stress relief tonight!!
I did not have any other mini dumps in my system that i found.

oh forgot was running sp1 updated to sp2 didn't know if that was the only update i needed to add hopefully - slightly confusing when you try to find the correct updates manually

My Computer

ok - so after numerous updates, reinstallations and headaches it works for awhile and bingo freezes. I really don't know what to try anymore. My son wants me to upgrade to 7 but I hate to be in the middle of the upgrade and have my system freeze - I can't even imagine what kind of mess I will get. any ideas any one?

My Computer

DO NOT upgrade to Win7 until you've figured out the cause of this.
The reason is that you may find an issue that isn't worth fixing - so you'll have wasted the money on Win7.

DO NOT upgrade any OS to another version of that OS - it's just asking for problems. If there's a problem with the old OS, then upgrading will bring the problem into the new OS. Always backup your stuff, then install the new OS 'clean' ( Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums )

Then again, reinstalling the old OS 'clean' may help to narrow down the problem. Backup your stuff and follow these directions for a clean install of Vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-vista.html

I'd leave the W-D MyBooks out of the equation for now - they're the only item that we haven't investigated.
