Syncing XP and Vista

I have Windows XP on my laptop, and Vista Home Premium on my PC. Is there an easy way to Sync the files between the 2 systems since MS decided to change the file root structure, ie my documents to documents, my pictures to pictures.

I did purchase an external hard drive, but I did want to just try to sync up everything easily unattended.

Can this be done?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know how it can be done in windows, but there are 3rd party apps to sync folders. the problem is will xp be able to read the changes made to a file in vista, and vista the changes made in xp.

I wouldnt want to trust my data to an automated process.

Can you tell us more about the file types, origin folders and destination folders?
