Switching to mac with windows vista

My desktop has vista home premium and my laptop has win xp home. I have a music making hobby using Pro Tools 7.4 Im ready for another laptop and my alienware area 51 is too heavy for traveling. Im told that I can run vista on a mac book pro, they are regarded as being pretty stable and compatible with Pro Tools.
But I need to find out if I will be able to run my other PC programs on the mac. Like excel, MS money, Second Copy, True Image, my kodak all in one printer, etc.

Also: Pro Tools cannot run on a 64 bit system.
Can someone answer this question? Appreciate it in advance.

I would suggest asking the same question on a mac forum.
There will be alot more people there that use a mac.:rolleyes:

Seems to me you are getting the worst of both worlds... the high cost of Mac, and the disadvantage of Windows relative to Apple Os... meaning the infamous ease of use of the Mac versus the PC environment.

I'd either take the learning hit and switch totally to Mac, or stick with a PC laptop.. my preferences being Lenovo and Sony.

Just thinking out loud here.

You would install the Windows OS the same way you would install it any other way. Keep in mind that you are installing Windows on a computer with a Unix based OS. So you will need to wipe the hard drive. Lastly, in order to run Pro Tools on a 64 bit OS you need to have a 32 bit Emulator.

Not necessary.

Windows Vista x64 runs x86 (32-Bit) programs just fine - with the exception of those that make use of special drivers, such as Virtual CD/DVD programs. It may very well be that the program Greg555 is using won't run on Vista x64 for that very reason. No amount of emulation will fix that - only a supplier provided update for the software will work.

Found out from a friend of a friend that the answer is yes it will run vista. Dont know about any of the other tools.
