Suggestions on graphic card needed, please!

Hi there,

One of my graphic cards show in my specs went out. :( I believe the other one is possibly on its way too. I like to keep my unit for while.

I would like to hear some suggestions on a best value card that will perform at least a little better then my old SLi. I don't need to spend a load to get one just comes out the market for my old rig.

Please keep in mind that a possible cpu upgrade to such as a Q9550 in the future; may be even another card for SLi when it became dirt cheap.

I appreciate any suggestions and pointers.

How about a GTX 260 such as:

Newegg.com - ECS Black Series NBGTX260-896MX-F GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card (Over Clock Version) - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Hope some one else will jump in and give suggestions.

How about some one tells me what is different between the two?

Thanks myself for the suggestion! :D:D:D

Can I give myself rep points?:)

Happy holiday everyone!!!!

Someone suggested me from other forum the 4890 and the 5850 that will out perform the 260 with the 4890 costs less. How about that? :D

For anyone who is interested in the result of my inquiry, I have just ordered the following for $311 shipped. Thanks and have a nice day.

Thanks for the suggestion; I sure will get another one when the price goes down. I heard it is very stable for o-clocking; will do that once the ATI drive is tuned.

yes, the new hd5000 series are a blast with all its new features. as skunksmash said, it is powerful even without its new features but with both performance and features together, you'll be hitting some fps!

Hi Lildragon, welcome to the board.

If the following is you system specs, you would have to load up your ram slots which is max 4 gig according to your mobo specs. You are able to install one of any PCIe x 16 graphic card.

However, your CPU is quite a bottle neck with more advanced graphic cards. It really depends what you like to do with your unit and budget.

One good thing is that you mobo is simi versatile and you can do many things to it. If you provide more of you choice and preference in how you like you pc to perform, it will be better for us to help you in more detail.

  • Processor: Intel Celeron D356 3.33GHz
  • Motherboard: Foxconn P4M9007MB
  • Memory: 512MB DDR RAM
  • HDD: 160GB SATA
  • DVDRW
  • Graphics Card: VIA/S3G Integrated Graphics
  • Integrated Realtek High Definition Audio
  • Integrated Realtek 8169/8168/8101 PCI Network
  • Media Card Reader
  • 6 USB Ports
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition (pre-installed)
Hope this helps,

Bruce

You really need about 3 or at least 2 gb of RAM to begin with.

Do you just like to be able to play the game or high quality playing? What monitor do you have?

Let us know your budget and where you like to buy your parts, may be we can pick out a list for you accordingly.
