Structured Exception Handling Overwrite Protection

Microsoft has released a Knowledgebase Article which provides details on how to enable a new security feature in Windows Vista SP1 called Structured Exception Handling Overwrite Protection (SEHOP). Microsoft recommends that users enable this feature as it provides additional protection against exploits, however note that there are known issues with Cygwin, Skype and Armadillo-protected applications.

Very Interesting KB you found there Axon, I dont use them applications so I have enabled SEHOP, It has not caused any issues for me :D

Cheers Axon :geek:

This feature is designed to block exploits that use the Structured Exception Handler (SEH) overwrite technique. This protection mechanism is provided at run-time. Therefore, it helps protect applications regardless of whether or not they have been compiled with the latest improvements, such as /SAFESEH. We recommend that Windows Vista users enable this feature to help increase the security profile of their systems.

If you enable SEHOP, existing versions of Cygwin, Skype, and Armadillo-protected applications may not work correctly.

Note To resolve this issue, contact the software vendor for an update.
