The strangest email spam/scams I ever received was:

1) an email claiming to be from the previous Pope's widow, who needed to move money out of Italy.

2) an offer to buy any dockyard cranes I might have for sale. And if they weren't for sale, would I be interested in a new supplier for parts and repairs ?

Yes, those are actual emails I received a few years ago.

All i get are e-mails wanting to make me rich, trouble is it's going to cost me a fortune to make myself rich. Are peolple really taken in by those ?. You have to feel sorry for the popes wife though, all that money and nowhere to put it lol.

Yes, the scam is over 500 years old. It started when people tried to get relatives out of Spain who were prisoners of the Spanish Crown. Scammers took advantage of the situation and it continues to this day.

I believe it's 419 scams. I used to receive them by the dozens, pick out a select few and reply from a bogus yahoo email address. I used to lead the scammers on for quite a while before they would either give up or I would tire of the Lad. Had one Lad go to four different Western Union offices in and around a town in Nigeria looking for the money I told him I sent before he cursed me out and moved on.

Check out scam-o-rama dot com for some really great and funny scam bait stories. Those folks are really too good at scamming the scammers.

I don't get any spam in my inbox, I have Mailwasher Pro so I see what's on the servers for my mail before anything gets downloaded and it's usually marked as spam already to be deleted.

It does make me laugh though some of the spam, I mean I'm still trying to work out how I'd manage to enlarge something I don't have then the ones about their clients/relatives and all this money they've left and want my help with, the spelling puts me off straight away

I remember a video on the internet (no idea where it is now, or what it was called), but it was about this guy who got sick of telemarketers. It was a recording (with subtitles) of him answering the phone. He pretended that he was a homicide detective and the guy who lived there had died. So he starts asking him questions like "did you know him", "are you aware that he was a Flaming Homosexual" and stuff and the way he answered made him seem somewhat suspicious (he was just really flustered) and then he started asking "were you his gay lover", "did you know him", "maybe you killed him" and so on. Eventually I think he hung up, but it was like the best thing ever. Too bad its all automated now......
I liked to answer them with: "Hello, Phoenix Crematorium. You kill 'em, we grill 'em!" :D
