Does anyone know how to stop configuring updates because i am tired of my stupid anti virus saying that the program is broken after each update and when the update happens it stays at 3of3 0% then i have to go to safe mode restart computer then it doesent do the updates which i am tired of this..and i do not have the disk of the vista it came with my computer when i bought it.

MS about it The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Your minimal detail at System Specs is not helping to determine the source of your problem, which is evident given the content of previous posts ie. Internet Protected Mode Off, etc.
What Security and Protection Software are you running, and have you conducted any Anti-Virus and Malware scans.
How long does your Update sit at 'Configuring 3 of 3 - 0%' for, before you decide to 'hard-close'?

Depending on how many updates are being installed, it's not uncommon for it take several minutes. If the Hard Drive light is active during that 0%, it's doing something.

Agree Mate with the second, but I was waiting to see what the comeback would be, to determine if 'patience' was part of the problem......never mind. Though I'd still like to see where the 'difficulties' lie. My thinking is sitting at the PC:D!

Im running webroot anti virus and it takes about a min and then restarts again and stays at the same spot and have internet protected mode off because i cant turn it on

Given all the instability that you are experiencing with your system, I would strongly suggest that you download some free and reputable tools, to sweep your system. For example, these for starters;
Some answers [called feedback], to other questions in previous threads, would help. In addition,
- is your Windows Defender on, off or disabled?
- Is your version of Vista Home Premium, SP1 or SP2?

Neverless later you can diagnose on viruses presence as well -I suggest use LiveCD with antivir
