Starting a New Hard Drive

Okay, so i recently bought a new 500GB SATA 2.5" Internal Hard Drive for my Dell Inspiron1501 using Vista Home Basic 32Bit. I took my old hard drive and backed up all of the files i deemed nesseary on a seperate external, than shut it down, and swaped the hard drives. When i rebooted, i instered the vista installation disc, and i began to run through set-up. The error came when the box said it could not transfer files from D:\Sources to C:\$Windows.~LS\Sources, and error code 0x80070001. I have looked it up, but the only info i can find is when backing up your fils, not installing from strach. Please offer any assistance.

Thanks very much,
Matt

yes, i tried that, and now it says BOOTMNG is missing

so what you are meaning is that you have checked for scratches and there arent any big deep scratches correct??

then most likely its a defective disc as this is so early in the install..

do you have another drive to install from??
