So far I have tired scannow. Scannow tells me it cannot repair settings.ini

I would appreciate any help to fix this so that I can do my work.

I am reading that this is related to jave, certain installed programs, or IE plugins. Have you installed any software recently? If so I suggest that you uninstall it. Please see these suggestions.
