can anyone give me advice on the best way to speed up my computer? I dont use most of the things in it anyways. I use my computer for surfin , gameplayin and downloading music , thats all . Please Help

thanks for the help Gary. Can you tell me if it is a good thing to disable the phishing filter as someone told me it really slows down surfing the web?And also for some reason I have about 50 or so add ons for I.E is this normal? do I need them all?

Don`t Use IE. It is the worst navigator of the world.

Consider yourself downloading Mozilla Firefox (3.0) or Safari (From Apple)
I use Safari because it loads images 2x faster than any navigator, and runs Javascript up to 7 times faster than ANY Navigator.

And No, It isn`t normal to have 50 Add-Ons.

And Phishing Filter is something that protects you from Phishing

Those figures do not show what people think, only what they're using... and I question their accuracy. 19% seems awfully low for Firefox.

You've got to keep in mind that you're average computer user isn't going to spend a lot of effort testing out different browsers to find which one is best or which one they like most; they're just going to use what's there. It's not until the good son comes home and cleans up Mom's PC that she stars using a more reliable browser.

You know, MS lost a big ol anti-trust suit about this in Europe recently... you may have heard about it?

Well i'm shocked!! I just checked the browser stats for this site for the last 30 days and IE has taken a massive drop.

IE7 - 57.47%
Firefox - 38.38%
Opera - 2.47%
Safari - 1.29%

No its not a good idea, its another line of security, you don't need any addons, IE7 is good enough without them,

Other browsers need addons to make them any good, without the addons they are poor imitations.

Hi speedemon,

How many addons are loaded? I have 51, mostly active x controls, listed but only 9 that are loaded.

I don't use the phishing filter, but I am very picky about who I give any personal information to.
