Speakers not working

Hi,
I have dell Inspiron 1420 32bit vista home premium Operating System comptuer.
Till today morning my internal speakers worked properly but they suddenly stopped working. I don't know what's the reason is.When i checked my sound bar it shows Digital Output Device(SPDIF) is connected.When i open the playback device screen it shows Speakers with red down arrow in it and displays not plugged in.But when i select it check its properties the status shows they are working properly.But my headphones are working properly.Please help me anyone to solve my problem.Thanks in advance..

So, you have sound on your headphones but not your speakers. Is this correct?
If that is correct then you may have a loose wire to speakers or a short (meaning somehow somwhere the wires are crossed).

Or, you may have switched off your speakers via the sound Icon on the playback screen.
