SP2 update problems!!!!

I am frustrated to no end. I have windows vista Ambra on my Dell Inspiron 15 core 2 duo, 4gb ram. The computer is only a year old. I realize that Ambra isn't really a common OS. My dads friend put it on here for me. While trying to install Windows Service Pack 2, I ran into some problems. I only want to download it so I can install Messenger Beta. Anyway, the first error i got was that wer.dll was missing. I found a wer.dll file on the internet and installed it into the system 32 file. However the problem didn't stop. It gave me a different error message, I don't remember what it was. I downloaded Dependency Walker and it told me that i had a few other .dll files missing. So I installed those as well from the internet. After downloading all of those and rebooting the attached image in my post is what it looked like. I am just so angry i want to download beta messenger and im not able to, without sp2. Also i should mention, that the reason i have Ambra is because my computer had a virus, it was completely wiped clean and the new OS was put on it. Any suggestions other than reverting back to my original vista or upgrading to 7? I just want this to work!!! Oh also, i have cleaned the registry with Advanced System Optimizer.

What is Windows Vista Ambra? And does he have the correct license to install it on your computer?

Hello asfalothgem,
Windows Vista Ambra looks like it is a modded version of Vista, so i dont hold out much hope of getting this fixed.

You can try opening a command prompt as administrator and type sfc/scannow press enter and let it scan, if errors are found you will need to scan again, until clean.

You can also try this.

Windows vista ambra sp2 64-bit - Rapidshare, Megaupload, Mediafire

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

No offence stoney, but your probably unaware that you might be giving him a link for a trojan or keylogger as googling Windows Vista Ambra has no legit information on what the OS is.

Only those false links that you see when you try to part file various pirated games/apps. the farthest from the original version of windows vista that ive heard of are Windows Vista Black Edition (32-bit that see's 4Gb of system memory even with a dedicated GPU) and Vista Enterprise (never fully suceeded in the market).

For now, dont rely much on getting OFFICIAL support for that "Ambra" OS or updating it with maybe what looks like "pirated" and modded updates of Genuine vista updates and get a legit copy of Vista (rather just get W7 since its newer).

P.S. and when he said "My dad's friend put it on my PC for me" implies that its not an official source of a legit Vista copy.

Yes I was beginning to think that, but if it is an illegal copy of Windows, then it doesn't matter if he gets a virus, because he is going to have to do a clean install anyway.

P.S. and when he said "My dad's friend put it on my PC for me" implies that its not an official source of a legit Vista copy.

Maybe so, but we can never assume something like this as in some cases it is likely to offend. For all we know his dad's friend is Bill Gates and has given him a free copy of Windows, or he is a computer professional who has installed windows for him because he may not be able to do it himself.

This statement may suggest such things, but we do not know for sure.

Tom

the link provided was not anything helpful however i didn't get a virus from it. ambra was some sort of prototype and was never released therefore i don't know how he came across it. im guessing that my best bet is to get a new operating system :( i don't really want to transfer all my programs and files over to a external hardrive but i will if neccessary. ambra obviously has a lot of security holes because i am constantly being attacked by malware even though i have protectors out the wazoo. oh and by the way, i am a girl so i would appreciate not being referred to as "he" :p my registry is missing tons of dlls and im just tired of having all of these problems so im either going to revert back to vista or upgrade to 7, vista being the cheaper alternative i will probably go with that since i already have the disk. thanks for everyone's thoughts and if there are any new suggestions let me know!

If you are going to vista get the sp2 update as soon as you can.

Sorry for assuming you were male :p

I would upgrade to Windows 7, it is easier to use and runs better than vista
