sp1 install trouble

as a warning i am using a slipstream version of vista ultimate

I have created a stable version that trims a lot of the fat, including 30 languages i don't speak, "pretty" features that i paid extra for, and tons of drivers/features that i haven't ever used.

However, after running sfc /scannow i don't get normal error messages (maybe this is obvious to everyone but me ;p). the only errors i get are "cannot verify component..." which include Intel and amd64. however i do not have an Intel chip so this seems odd to me.

my goal is to maintain the sanctity of my slipstream copy as much as possible and to be able to install sp1. i haven't tried using the repair installation yet due to fear of it "fixing" my installation more than just fixing the errors i get.

i am posting an attachment text file of my sfcdetails.txt with the above filter because i get none of the member style errors per the tutorials

TIA

this is a slipstream version, and i would like to figure out a work around, possibly just install the missing files if at all possible just to get this over with :(

its useless stuff like fax client (wtf is fax??? ;p), game explorer (duh, i know which games i like to play), and other useless apps that i intentionally left out because i knew i wouldnt use

Games explorer is beneficial to you as newer games will integrate themselves automatically and load the correct version for the system you have (32bit versus 64 bit).

Fax client allows you to use a telephone line and send and receive faxes directly into your computer.

Finally, before removing something, you should *really* check out what their dependencies are - and what depends on them.

hi, i have a different problem but related to my previous problem. i am having trouble installing sp1 and checksur is finding problems with language packs, screen savers and sample videos/pictures. im not sure exactly what the problem is and how to fix it. i used the same cd to install windows on my wife's computer and used identical settings with the exception of her computer name and cd key. here is my checksur log. TIA

Hi,

Do you mean your wife's pc has an identical edited version of Vista as yours , and SP1 installed fine on hers but not on yours?

If that is the case , something has changed on your machine , but not hers.

Just in case it's malware, try scanning with the free

www.malwarebytes.org.

You could then try using the dvd you installed Vista with to do a repair install on your pc, before installing SP1.
