when i want to watch movies which are avi files on my lcd tv using an hdmi cable, i am unable to get sound from the tv, so i am watching the film on my tv but the sound comes from my laptop. i know that i can get the sound from my tv as i have done in the past but i have no idea why i cant now. please can any one help
The video will come from the HDMI but the actual sound needs to be connected by another cable from the speaker jack to the Tv. There is nothing wrong with the set up it is just how things are now with that and a laptop. Hook up the extra cable from the speaker jack to the TV and you will or may have to set up the TV speakers to accept that as the sound source.
