Some issues with vista

wasn't sure where to make this topic it could fall in different categories but,

im having issues with the graphics of some games, and if i reinstall vista it works again, but then after a while it comes back, im not sure what is the cause of it,

when i play a game for example godfather 2, i get all these colors coming out of nowhere,

any help, please, and thanks

I have a Dell Studio XPS-

4gb ram
i7 2.67 GHz
ati radeon 4850 512mb
installed vista ultimate

i dont know what could be the problem, would installing codecs affect games? or no

You meet the game minimum requirements...

why would you install codec packs when vista Ultimate already includes HD and regular codecs ?

That's a video driver issue. Are you using the default drivers that come with vista?

I'd update to the latest cat 9.4 drivers.

What codecs are you installing please link to them?

First go Graphics Drivers & Software and download and install the Catalyst Software Suite. When youv installed and rebooted come back here and click on the link on my sig and you'll see updates for DirectX etc. Install them then reboot your pc.
