Software on 3.5 floppys

Hi, I'm looking at getting a laptop. They don't have the old style 3.5 floppy drive.
I've believe that Vista won't let you use an extenal USB 3.5 drive to load 3.5 discs.
Is this true? If so how would I load my old apps that are on 3.5 floppys?

Had the same problem. What I did was take my floppy's to a friend who had a floppy drive and copied the software to a flash drive and then to my computer.
