I think that following these rules will be your best course of action. Not looking for special drivers.

10 Tips on How to Properly Maintain Your Computer

Steps that I did not notice on the guide include:

Running a scan disc before doing a defrag

Using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

Making System Restore points, at least once a week

Makaing a system Image once a month (varies by user)

Not relying on your A/V common sense, should prevail. You know of many sites can cause a problem.

Do not use any reg cleaning or optimizing software.

Download and use Ccleaner. about once every two months

If you follow these instructions, you will be trouble free for a long time to come.

Be sure to back up your hard drive about once a month (varies by user) and to keeep system restore points up to date.

i have a question how do i keep my cpu usage down? my usage fluctuates between 20 and 90...is this normal? if not what can i do to keep it down? Registry mechanics said it was system idle processes.

System Idle is exactly what it says....if it says 90% then it means only 10% of your CPU is being used.

Don't use Registry Cleaners/Compactors, they can remove vital keys and actually cause more trouble than they are supposed to clean up.

My system fluctuates in much the same way as yours as I have several programmes running in the background constantly - it's normal.

The easiest way to speed up a PC is to add more memory but a 32-bit system is limited to around 3 or 4gb, 64-bit much more of course.
