I sent an email to a friend and when that friend clicked on the "reply" button and sent a response, about 1 or 2 minutes later the response was returned with the following message:

*********************************************************

Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:

Recipient address: [email protected]
Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host
[209.165.130.12] blocked using web.dnsbl.sorbs.net; Exploitable Server
See: SORBS Database Lookup
Remote system: dns;mail.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com
(TCP|209.165.149.147|58186|216.155.208.23|25) (mail1. xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com
ESMTP Postfix [postfix-2.4.0])

********************************************************

Actual email addresses were x'd out by me for privacy purposes.

To the best of my knowledge, this friend is the only person who sends me responses, that this happens to AND this has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

Is this a problem with my email ISP, etc., or my friend's email ISP? Or something else?

Thank you to whoever can help me.

Welcome to the world of email blacklists. Your friend's email server (looks like it's at an ISP) is now listed in the SORBS blacklist. Those SORBS folks have a bad reputation, and many view them as little more than blackmailers. You can see some of this by searching for "SORBS sucks", where you can see complaints about having to pay to escape the blacklist.

McAfee's email reputation web service, Trusted Source, says that your friend's email server is "Minimal Risk", look here:

TrustedSource - Query Result for 209.165.130.12

If your friend's email server were exploitable, there would not be green bars on the Trusted Source lookup.

It looks like your own ISP is using SORBS, I doubt that you will be able to get them to drop it. See if they will whitelist the sender's ISP, or at least his email address.

Blacklists are nearly impossible to get off of in many cases, and those who run them have questionable motives in doing so.
