Solved SmartMedia slot not found.

I have an integral set of slots in the front for 4 types of media card.

Last year, I installed myself a new hard drive and while I was in disk management, I re-jiggled the drive letters and uninstalled those slots that, at the time, I didnt think I'd ever need... until now :o

My SD slot works great - I use it all the time. The other 3 dont and I want to reinitialise the slot for the slim SmartMedia card.

I have tried various options...
  • Shut down - Opened the case and disconnected - Restarted - Shut down - opened up and re-connected (no affect)
  • Checked Disk management (not there)
  • Made sure the Smart Card task is auto-started in Admin Services (initially it wasnt, but it is now and still doesnt work)

Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 530S (I have no idea what SP im on!!)

By-the-way, the only cable I could find to disconnect had a blue female 9-pin connector, plugs straight to the motherboard. I can only assume that data and power (?) utilise the same cable because I cant see (without removing my DVD drive) if there is anything else.

EDIT: Also the little green light still comes on when the card is in the slot.

Anyone have additional suggestions, it would be great.

Thanks.

Thanks Dog.
Perfect - Didn't need to re-install. The drives were already there, simply disabled. Right-Click > Enable was all that was needed.

Thank you very much - 1 added to your reputation :)

Well, glad it was so simple, and that you are " fixed " . Thanks for using VistaForums for your issue.
