hi im new here anyways ive recently upgraded from vista x32 bit home premium i think it was up to x64 ultimate and sice i have ive noticed firstly my dvd drive no longer opens manually by pressing the button i have to go into my computer and select eject disk to open tray

heres details of the dvd writer i have got:

Storage Components - Optiarc AD-7200S DVD±RW DL Drive - spec_optiarc_dvdrw_ad-7200s - Information and Instructions - IXTREME X8540 - PB81X12201 - iXtreme - platform_amadeus_ixtreme - Desktop

so anyhelp wud be appreciated on how to fix that issue...

and secondly ive noticed on startup my computer is taking far longer now to load up? im having to wait ages till i get to the enter password screen (grrrr) so when it does ive noticed in device manager that sm bus controller has a yellow exclamation mark besides it?? im not sure what this is or means im not even sure what it does or if i even need it..
i unistalled the driver for sm bus controller and when restarting the comp it says windows will try to install the driver but couldnt find the driver needed...so basically im not sure if this sm bus thingy is effecting how my computer is starting?

heres a more detailed spec of what computer system i have

Information and Instructions - IXTREME X8540 - PB81X12201 - iXtreme - platform_amadeus_ixtreme - Desktop

scroll down to chipset drivers

your dvd drawer issue is a funny one , i can only assume the button has gone screwy , if it opens from windows

as for bootup times have you disabled any services like .. ready boost?

if its a new install your bootup times may improve after time , although sevice pack 2 for Vista seems to have doubled my bootup times
