Slow Internet Connection

I got a 8meg wireless connection using my desktop computer but I have a problem when moving the computer downstairs to use on the HDTV. When upstairs the speed test shows between 6-7meg but when moved downstairs it takes about 5mins to even open a single web page. The signal is still around 40-50% when downstairs but I've never had a problem until yesterday, I've still been getting good speeds. Anyone know why this may be happening?

If the problem only recently started, then you should look to the obvious factors- what has changed recently to cause this? Such things an include a new driver update, a windows Update for some other software, an updated firewall, and changed settings for your wireless card.
