slow complete boot

My boot up process is painfully slow once I login. It takes literally about 2 minutes after I login before I can switch power settings or manually connect to a network (both via task bar). This is not normal. This is the same cause with or without my 7 port USB hub connected.

Specs

Core 2 Duo 2.6Ghz
4GB Memory
200GB 7200k Drive
Vista x64 Ultimate

Less than 20% drive used
Defragmented daily

Please see attached images. I barely have any startup programs aside Vista's default. I have sidebar and defender disabled too.

How would I trace the cause(s) of this?

Hi Chad,

You can test to see if it is any startup items are causing this by booting into Safe Mode and see how long it takes. Safe Mode only loads necessary services and drivers. You can see how to in this tutorial if needed.

How to Boot Up in and Use Advanced Boot Options in Vista

You might consider doing at least numbers 1, 4, 6, 7, and 26 in this tutorial. Do any others that you would like to do as well.
